Segment: Large SUV
Drivetrain option(s): RWD
GM’s full-size SUVs got some styling and trim enhancements a year ago, as well as a 10-speed transmission. They’ll be redesigned in 2020 as GM works to maintain its dominance over Ford following a well-received redesign of Ford’s Expedition and the upcoming resurrection of the Bronco SUV. The next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, heavily camouflaged, doesn’t look drastically different than the current model, new spy photos indicate. The photos show the large SUV with an independent rear suspension, a notable engineering change from its traditional live axle design, matching the latest redesigned Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. Other than the suspension, the model caught testing features twin dual exhausts and possibly a smoother design. (Photo credit: BRIAN WILLIAMS / SPIEDBILDE)
A re-engineering of the vehicles, including plug-in hybrid variants, is expected as early as 2022.
