The prototype hub store touts a dealership showroom with no vehicles. Rather than cubicles or desks, the showrooms are outfitted with seven “open consultation” stations with soft, sofalike seating and tables. Four of them resemble restaurant booths.
It’s the first real challenge to CarMax since AutoNation dumped the stand-alone used-car concept in December 1999. Other auto retailers are watching.
