Porsche's first full-electric sports car, formerly known as the Mission E concept, has an official production name: Taycan. Taycan, roughly translated as "lively young horse," according to Porsche, references the imagery at the heart of the brand's crest, which features a leaping horse. Porsche has said the vehicle will go on sale in the U.S. in late 2019 or early 2020. Sales are likely to begin first in 2019 in Europe. Powered by two synchronous motors generating more than 600 hp, the Taycan can do 0 to 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds. The vehicle has a driving range of more than 300 miles on a single charge. Porsche has also said it will sell an EV based on the Mission E Cross Turismo wagon concept shown this year. By 2025, half of Porsche's vehicles will be sold with a plug.
