Ruth Maranto, customer relations and training manager, on showing employees they are valued
"Fun activities are done throughout the year — chili cook-off, pinewood derby, employee appreciation lunches and breakfasts, Christmas party with every employee receiving a gift, ugly sweater contests. Birthday and anniversary cards are presented to each employee personally by the general manager. The Who We Are Award was created in 2016, given to employees representing our core values — integrity, hard work, stewardship and service."
Maranto on keeping employees engaged
"The company's mission is to enrich lives, so we are focused on that daily. There is continuous training for many positions both locally as well as corporately, including general manager training, sales manager and finance training, HR and controller training, etc. We bring in outside trainers as well as manufacturer trainers to do product and process training. There are also daily trainings in the sales shift meetings."
Maranto on a successful healthy living program
"Through 2016, we utilized the Sonic Boom program promoting health and wellness for employees. It enables employees to interact online as well as with a wrist tracker to indicate miles walked, run, etc. Also, we give opportunities to compete in many areas including healthy living, exercise, eating right, safety, etc. Prize drawings are held for participation and a reduction in medical deductible."
General Sales Manager Bryson Hicks on attracting employees
"Due to the fact that we have a unique sales process as a noncommission dealership, we attract many candidates from a variety of areas as we do not always require previous car experience. All new hires are trained regarding the sales process. We focus on training and product knowledge for the first two months. We also make it a priority to promote from within."
