The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is one of the nation's largest suppliers of public power, with 99.999 percent transmission reliability and the lowest industrial electricity rate among peer utilities. The TVA region, with a geographic footprint of 80,000 square miles, is the second-largest automobile manufacturing region in the country, offering access to a variety of foreign and domestic automakers and suppliers. More than 300,000 residents in the TVA area are employed in transportation-related manufacturing.

The region is home to six plants assembling vehicles for General Motors Co., Nissan Motor Co., Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Volkswagen AG and, most recently, Mazda-Toyota Manufacturing U.S.A. Inc. More than 1,000 suppliers have nearby locations to support these plants.

The TVA region is connected via 10 interstate highways, 12 commercial/industrial airports and multiple freight options. It is also accessible from eight deep-water coastal ports using eight Class I rail carriers and multiple intermodal facilities.

The large workforce is supported by a network of 94 universities, 24 community colleges, 35 technical colleges and 22 junior colleges. Companies also can take advantage of two cutting-edge facilities: the Alabama Robotics Technology Park, a private-public collaboration offering leading-edge robotics training, and the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems at Mississippi State University, featuring both r&d and educational opportunities.

Within the Tennessee Valley Authority, businesses can access a suite of economic development services and incentives including site selection assistance, energy credits and technical and engineering services.
