Volkswagen of America plans two special Beetle models -- Final Edition SE and Final Edition SEL -- to mark the last model year for the venerable nameplate. Both will be available in coupe and convertible body styles. The company says production of the modern, third-generation Beetle will end at a plant in Puebla, Mexico, in July 2019.

Volkswagen launched the Beetle in the late 1940s and sold over 20 million units of the car before phasing it out fifty years later. In 1997, the company redesigned the model, but demand has failed to match that of the original. VW plans to end output of the modern, third-generation Beetle at a plant in Mexico in July 2019.

The redesigned 2020 GLE is moving to Mercedes’ Modular High Architecture, or MHA, platform. It features a new suspension system powered partly by the 48V battery and developed by Mercedes-Benz. It is the only system on the market where the spring and damping forces can be individually controlled at each wheel, the automaker claims, helping to counter body roll, pitch and squat.

Porsche is gearing up to launch a coupe version of its Cayenne midsize crossover. It’s billed as Porsche’s answer to the BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and Audi Q8. The Cayenne Coupe, scheduled to debut as early as next year, was spotted being tested in Germany.
The vehicle sports the front fascia and sloping roof of the Macan crossover, while the rear end resembles the Panamera, according to spy photos.
